The Greater Ridgewood Youth Council (GRYC) operates a COMPASS After-School Program for students in grades K–5 at P.S. 306, New York City Academy for Discovery. The program provides a safe, structured, and engaging environment that promotes academic success, social-emotional development, and positive youth engagement.

Working closely with school administrators and staff, the program reinforces classroom learning while offering a variety of educational and recreational enrichment opportunities. The program operates Monday through Friday from 2:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. throughout the academic year.

Students participate in a diverse range of activities, including:

-STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
-Arts and Crafts
-Project Adventure
-Fitness
-Sports
-E-Sports
-Dance
-Gameroom Activities
-Educational and Recreational Field Trips

In addition, students enjoy special themed events and celebrations throughout the year that recognize seasonal holidays and cultural traditions. Field trips provide opportunities for students to explore cultural institutions, educational venues, and community resources that enhance learning beyond the classroom.

The primary goal of the GRYC After-School Program is to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of every participant while fostering a positive and inclusive community.
