The GRYC/DYCD P.S. 128 COMPASS After-School Program serves approximately 150 children. Our program is a collaboration between the COMPASS initiative and the Greater Ridgewood Youth Council. It is available to the students of P.S.128 in grades K-5 for in person activities, during their Cohort days, and any student for remote activities. The program operates Monday – Friday, between 2:10pm-5:30pm in accordance with the school calendar year. The Program is Free and Funded by DYCD.
Our goal is to provide a safe, educational and fun filled environment that supports the Department of Education’s Common Core Learning Standards. We follow all DOH COVID Guidelines. Our activities are designed to provide educational enrichment and SEL through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Homework Help, Gym/Fitness, Yoga, Arts & Crafts, Games, Flower Power, Creative Writing, and Sports Activities. The Homework Help program enhances the student’s school day experience and is offered in person and remotely. Good assignments, completed successfully, can help children develop wholesome habits and attitudes. Special events will be offered. Snacks are provided daily by the USDA through School Food Services, NYC Department of Education.
The GRYC/COMPASS also offers a Summer Camp Program in July and August. The summer camp will enroll 150 children between the ages of 5-11 years old. The summer camp provides educational and recreational activities culminating in an amazing end of summer camp show.
