In addition to our existing GRYC COMPASS elementary program at P.S./I.S.128, we now also serve our Junior High School population through the GRYC SONYC program. The GRYC SONYC program is a free program that is funded by the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development. Our program operates in person Monday-Friday between the hours of 2:00–5:00PM & remotely between the hours of 2:15pm-5:15pm during the school calendar year. Snacks are also provided for every child.
Our goal at P.S./I.S. 128 is to provide a learning, safe and fun environment that supports Department of Education performance. Our activities are designed to provide educational enrichment through Homework Help, Leadership Development, Photography, Literacy, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) & The Arts. The GRYC SONYC program also offers a variety of recreational and physical activities that promote healthy living such as Team Sports, Dance, Cooking and much more! All these activities are introduced both in person and on several different platforms such as Google Classroom, Discord, & on Instagram. The following activities also promote social and creative skills. Our future leaders are supported by engaging in different community service events.
